Localized reading guide

hf-cliPurpose, usage and source

Hugging Face Hub CLI (hf) for downloading, uploading, and managing models, datasets, spaces, buckets, repos, papers, jobs, and more on the Hugging Face Hub. Use when: handling authentication; managing local cache; managing Hugging Face Buckets; running or scheduling jobs on Hugging Face infrastructure; managing Hugging Face repos; discussions and pull requests; browsing models, datasets and spaces; reading, searching, or browsing academic papers; managing collections; querying datasets; configuring spaces; setting up webhooks; or deploying and managing HF Inference Endpoints. Make sure to use this skill whenever the user mentions 'hf', 'huggingface', 'Hugging Face', 'huggingface-cli', or 'hugging face cli', or wants to do anything related to the Hugging Face ecosystem and to AI and ML in general. Also use for cloud storage needs like training checkpoints, data pipelines, or agent traces. Use even if the user doesn't explicitly ask for a CLI command. Replaces the deprecated huggingface-cli.

How the upstream workflow works

Overview

Install: curl -LsSf https://hf.co/cli/install.sh | bash -s. The Hugging Face Hub CLI tool hf is available. IMPORTANT: The hf command replaces the deprecated huggingface-cli command. Use hf --help to view available functions. Note that auth commands are now all under hf auth e.g. hf auth whoami. Generated with huggingface_hub v2.4.0. Run hf skills add --force to regenerate.

Commands

hf cp SRC — Copy files between local paths, repositories, and buckets. [--format [auto|human|agent|json|quiet]] hf download REPO_ID — Download files from the Hub. [--type [model|dataset|space|kernel] --revision TEXT --include TEXT --exclude TEXT --cache-dir TEXT --local-dir TEXT --force-download --dry-run --max-workers INTEGER --format [auto|human|agent|json|quiet]]

hf auth — Manage authentication (login, logout, etc.).

hf auth list — List all stored access tokens. [--format [auto|human|agent|json|quiet]] hf auth login — Login from your browser, or using a token from huggingface.co/settings/tokens. [--add-to-git-credential --force --format [auto|human|agent|json|quiet]]

Requirements and setup

No short requirements passage was selected from this file. This does not mean the Skill has no dependencies. Check the repository setup instructions and referenced files.

Limits and quality checks

No separate limits passage was selected from this file. This does not mean the Skill is safe for every input or environment. Review the complete source and validate your own result.

Codez source review · CLI not run

The reviewed file says it was generated with huggingface_hub v2.4.0. For hf webhooks create and hf webhooks update, --domain lists repo or discussion (singular); the previously cited file used discussions. This source comparison does not identify your installed CLI version. Before copying arguments, check hf --help and the relevant command help in your own environment. Codez did not run the CLI or connect a Hugging Face account.

Start with a safe trial

  1. Check the supported host and the repository installation instructions. Keep the Skill directory and its referenced scripts, assets and documentation together; SKILL.md alone may omit dependencies.
  2. Give the agent your real input, desired output and acceptance criteria. Invocation syntax and available tools depend on the host; this site does not assume a universal install command.
  3. Try the source workflow in a disposable project or on a copy. Review operations that change files, remote services or billable resources before allowing them.
  4. Validate the output against the source quality checks and your own requirements. A successful trigger or a high repository Star count does not establish a correct result.
