Localized reading guide
plugin-creatorPurpose, usage and source
Create and scaffold plugin directories for Codex with a required .codex-plugin/plugin.json, optional plugin folders/files, and baseline placeholders you can edit before publishing or testing. Use when Codex needs to create a new local plugin, add optional plugin structure, or generate or update repo-root .agents/plugins/marketplace.json entries for plugin ordering and availability metadata.

What this Skill does
Create and scaffold plugin directories for Codex with a required .codex-plugin/plugin.json, optional plugin folders/files, and baseline placeholders you can edit before publishing or testing. Use when Codex needs to create a new local plugin, add optional plugin structure, or generate or update repo-root .agents/plugins/marketplace.json entries for plugin ordering and availability metadata.
How the upstream workflow works
Quick Start
Run the scaffold script: Open /.codex-plugin/plugin.json and replace [TODO: ...] placeholders. Generate or update the repo marketplace entry when the plugin should appear in Codex UI ordering: For a home-local plugin, treat as the root and use:
Marketplace workflow
marketplace.json always lives at /.agents/plugins/marketplace.json. For a home-local plugin, use the same convention with as the root: ~/.agents/plugins/marketplace.json plus ./plugins/. Marketplace root metadata supports top-level name plus optional interface.displayName. Treat plugin order in plugins[] as render order in Codex. Append new entries unless a user explicitly asks to reorder the list.
What this skill creates
If the user has not made the plugin location explicit, ask whether they want a repo-local plugin or a home-local plugin before generating marketplace entries. Creates plugin root at ///.
# Plugin names are normalized to lower-case hyphen-case and must be <= 64 chars.
# The generated folder and plugin.json name are always the same.
# Run from repo root (or replace .agents/... with the absolute path to this SKILL).
# By default creates in <repo_root>/plugins/<plugin-name>.

No short requirements passage was selected from this file. This does not mean the Skill has no dependencies. Check the repository setup instructions and referenced files.
Limits and quality checks
No separate limits passage was selected from this file. This does not mean the Skill is safe for every input or environment. Review the complete source and validate your own result.
Start with a safe trial
- Check the supported host and the repository installation instructions. Keep the Skill directory and its referenced scripts, assets and documentation together; SKILL.md alone may omit dependencies.
- Give the agent your real input, desired output and acceptance criteria. Invocation syntax and available tools depend on the host; this site does not assume a universal install command.
- Try the source workflow in a disposable project or on a copy. Review operations that change files, remote services or billable resources before allowing them.
- Validate the output against the source quality checks and your own requirements. A successful trigger or a high repository Star count does not establish a correct result.
